Slide Show for Aspiring Youth Pumpkin Carving Contest

This year Aspiring Youth’s annual Pumpkin Carving Contest was held on October 18th at Marshall, Kirby and B.C. Elmore Middle Schools. Aspiring Youth students were challenged to carve their own pumpkins, create their own scary pumpkin faces and display their unique creativity. Seeing the insides of a pumpkin for the first time was a wonderful learning experience that they will never forget.

The finished Jack O’Lanterns were put on display and judged for originality, and at the end of the day everyone was thrilled to be able to take their pumpkins home to show their families and friends. The Aspiring Youth Annual Pumpkin Carving Contest was first envisioned by Emily Pipkin several years ago as a way to celebrate National Lights On After-School. Lights On! is a day set aside to show the community, city, state and the nation how important after-school programs are to our youth and the future of our society.
