Five Schools of Aspiring Youth Students
Attend Annual Angels of Light Program
A big thank you goes out to Rob Ammons of The Ammons Law Firm. Rob Ammons, who is a member of the Aspiring Youth Advisory Council and an underwriter of the 2007 Reach for the Stars Gala, has instituted the Ammons Scholarship program that will benefit Aspiring Youth students. In collaboration with Aspiring Youth, this fantastic venture will each year enable several Aspiring Youth students to finance their college educations! We are pleased that Aspiring Youth students will be able to financially achieve their dreams of attending college.
This year deserving students will be given bikes for their superior accomplishments in the Aspiring Youth After-School Program. Donations such as this help Aspiring Youth accomplish our goal to prepare at-risk youth for success in school and in life. Our thanks to Julie Keeton, City of Houston CMC Citywide Coordinator and the Houston Police Department for donating 10 bikes to the Aspiring Youth Program.
Each year Aspiring Youth honors one individual for their service to the organization. This year we honor Mark Davis, CPA. Mark spent countless hours in our offices using his expertise to assist with financial reports for grant writing and to troubleshoot computer networking issues. Without his continual support we would not have been able to succeed in many of our goals this year. Our staff is very grateful to Mark and is proud to present to him the Volunteer of the Year Award for 2006.
The Aspiring Youth staff celebrated the Christmas holidays with the students and staff at the After-School Program sites. Hundreds of students had fun, food, cake, candy, and punch at the holiday parties. They also participated in games and activities such as Ornament Making, Bingo, and Holiday photos. This gave the students a chance to relax and have fun with their classmates as the School Winter-Holiday-Break approached.
Aspiring Youth's mission is to prepare at-risk youth to aspire to and attain their highest degree of success in school and in life. To fulfill our mission, Aspiring Youth focuses on the middle school years when children are transforming from childhood to teenagers. The choices made during the pre-teen years are the foundation for each student's future success.

If you live in a city with a Randall's Food Store, Randall's will donate 1% of your grocery purchases if you enter the Aspiring Youth® number (number 5130) and use your Randall's card with your purchases.
Kroger Food Stores will also donate 1% of your grocery purchases if you use the Aspiring Youth™ Kroger card with your purchases (please let us know if you would like for us to send you a card to use at Kroger).
Donations to Aspiring Youth® are tax deductible to the extent allowed for 501(c)(3) non-profit organizations. Clothing and small home items donations can be made by contacting Central Donations at 713-948-2828.
