Gala time quickly approaches! This year’s Aspiring Youth Gala will be held on April 20th at the Houston Country Club. Among this year’s honorees is Oliver Luck, former Houston Oiler and current president of Houston Dynamo. McConnell Jones Lanier & Murphy LLP wil receive a Corporate Star for Youth Award, and the Missouri City of The Links will receive the Community Star Award.

Join us in sharing an evening with our Houston Legend Oliver Luck, and our Honorary Co-Chairs, Charles and Jana Fay Bacarisse. Aspiring Youth Book Club

Aspiring Youth students from B.C. Elmore Middle School will participate in Aspiring Youth’s 4th annual Book Club this spring. The book “The Watsons Go To Birmingham” by Christopher Paul Curtis was distributed to students in January. This book, which blends the fictional account of an African American family with the factual events of the violent summer of 1963, is the winner of the Newbery Honor and the Coretta Scott King Honor.

Members of the Aspiring Youth Book Club meet weekly to discuss the year's chosen book . This develops the students’ comprehension skills, and instills a joy for reading that will benefit them for the rest of their lives.

Looking for a way to volunteer without long-term commitment? Aspiring Youth has many opportunities to spend a few hours with our great kids. You could: chaperone a field trip, lend a hand at one of our activities, share your experiences or expertise, or host a visit to your place of business, just to mention a few. If you prefer working behind the scenes, our staff often needs a hand with special events.

This is a perfect opportunity for college students looking for community service work, or anyone hoping to help at-risk youth succeed. For more information, contact us at :
