2006-2007 School Year begins with
Inaugural "Court to Court" Event

Aspiring Youth of Houston teamed up wtih the international law firm Greenberg Traurig and the Houston Comets for this first time ever event. Students from B.C. Elmore Middle School first met in the new Harris County Civil Courthouse where Judge Caroline Baker discussed the importance of education and hard work. Following a tour of the courthouse, the students went back to the Greenberg Traurig offices for dinner and to meet with the firm's attorneys.

Greenberg Traurig Shareholder Shari Heyen felt that this experience was as beneficial for the attorneys as it was for the students.

After dinner the event took a different turn and ended with the students going to a different kind of court and enjoying an exciting Comets' Playoff game. Many of the students had never been to a live game before. Our thanks to Judge Caroline Baker for inspiring the students in her courtroom, and thanks also to LaShawnda Harris for her work in gathering Aspiring Youth students on the first week of school.

Aspiring Youth and ArtSmarts

Aspiring Youth and The Links have partnered again for another year of great activities and cultural enlightenment at B.C. Elmore Middle School. On Saturday, September 16th, the thirty outstanding and dedicated students met in the library of B.C. Elmore Middle School with The Links, Elmore and Aspiring Youth staff. The students and their parents were oriented to the ArtSmart Program which exposes the students to various cultural arts programs and careers. We are thankful to partner with The Links and Elmore for another year.
